Communication and presentation skills are at the core of expressing ourselves, understanding, and influencing others. These skills are highly critical for learners of all ages to be successful in school, career, and relationships. In this technology enabled AI era, the younger generation is faced with a unique challenge of being heard, attaining and sustaining attention, while keeping pace with lightening speed communications, instant messages, and the numerous things distracting our attention. They need to learn how to stand out, and be heard on a variety of platforms.

Our courses recognize, and address the unique communication & presentation challenges of youngsters in the digital era, in a holistic way emphasizing self, situational, and social awareness. We begin with the basic foundational skills, and incrementally develop and fine tune our craft with practice, self reflection, peer interaction, and feedback. In each class we ideate, plan, create, present, play, review, reflect, and revise our presentations, while having fun interacting and engaging with peers & a variety of media platforms along the way.

Courses For 5-8 Years Old/Grades K-2

The intent behind these courses is to nourish children’s innate desire to express & interact, and to preserve  the authenticity and enthusiasm of their voices, by guiding them with proper tools, and supporting with positive encouragement. It is our endeavor to blossom children’s creativity, and intelligence by complimenting them with effective communication skills, so they can, share, express, and interact freely. It is of utmost importance to decode the art of communication for young children and we believe our highly interactive small group classrooms & innovative learning methods best serve this purpose.

45 minutes per class – 8 classes per session

once a week for 8 weeks or twice a week for 4 weeks

  • Interactive, teacher driven lesson time using multimedia content – 10-15 minutes
  • Hands on activities, exercises, games – 15-20 minutes

Communication and Presentation in Classroom

This class focuses on the daily communication and presentation skills that children need to effectively interact in a virtual or physical classroom (inside/outside school) with peers and teachers. Children learn skills like asking questions, responding to questions, sharing ideas orally, story telling, show and tell, expressing views and opinions clearly, and communicating with power. Children enjoy playing games & participating in activities while seamlessly nurturing their authentic voice and unique style of communication.

There is a lot to process and decode for a child, from raising hand to speak to completing the act of speaking and responding to peers and teachers in a classroom. We make this processing seamless and effective for children through learning & practice, complimenting their innate enthusiasm to share and express.

In each class we watch videos, learn strategies, and practice  effective communication and presentation is various classroom scenarios, interacting with teachers and peers in structured and unstructured activities.

Public Speaking and Story Telling

There are many instances where it is incrementally important to hear the voice of curiosity, endless hope, fearless enthusiasm, and bustling energy embodied by our budding speakers and story tellers. The emphasis of this class to prepare young children for this act when called upon  to do so.

In this class we endeavor to make  students speak and narrate stories to an audience with ease as they learn and put the story telling and speaking techniques to practice. Further we motivate children to speak in their authentic voice and to narrate stories (own stories or stories they like) by creating a friendly & welcoming space with a lively audience.

In each class, we learn and practice tips and tricks – like organizing and presenting ideas, and stories, making notes, modulating voice, expression, greetings, coming up with good opening and closing sentences, body language and developing awareness. We record and watch our videos, and strive to do better, drawing  inspiration from role models, learning from each other, and our own mistakes.

Courses For 8-11 Years Old/Grades 3-5

Speaking, active listening, conversing, presenting, & story telling are natural ways children share and express themselves. These skills form the core of their engagement and relationships with peers and adults in various scenarios. However mastering the nuances of these skills becomes increasingly hard as children grow up, due to distractions, complexity, inhibitions, nervousness and many reasons. The good news is that all children can become better communicators through learning and practice. Our courses service this purpose of positive training and practice of communication & presentation skills in highly relevant and engaging ways.

Communication & Conversations in Classroom

Children in grades 3, and above are expected to communicate more with peers as they coordinate and cooperate in a variety of group tasks and project work. Further their friendships, and interactions become more conversational as they grow older. In this class, we mimic various challenging virtual and in-person classroom situations, and teach children how to navigate with effective communication and presentation skills.

Students find our in the moment learning strategy, to be highly effective, and find themselves constantly improvising upon the strategies they learn, bringing in their own personal experience, perspective, and wisdom. In each class we emphasize active listening, & mindful presence, and attention as core foundations for effective communication. We watch sample videos, discuss common classroom and playground situations reflect on the ways we present and express ourselves, practice ways to get better at it over and over. We draw support from each other with positive interactions.

We invite the budding leaders of tomorrow to speak their minds and share their stories in this class. We teach them ways to speak and present in ways that makes their voices, ideas, and opinions heard by one and all. In this course, we gently nurture young children’s desire to share & express themselves, guide them towards claiming their rightful space on various public podiums that directly impact them, while working on their natural inhibitions, nervousness, imperfections, and mistakes.

In each class, we encourage children to present and express themselves authentically while engaging them in exercises that bring awareness, clarity to what they want to say and how best to say it. They switch between active listener and engaging speaker roles as they work together towards becoming effective communicators in our safe, fun, and interactive classrooms.

Making Engaging Presentations

Content, organization, and the style of our presentations is a reflection of the depth of our knowledge, ease of understanding, and our command (ability to lead/drive) on the subject/topic at hand. Our presentations are our tools to reach out,  influence, and impress others (teachers, parents, peers, and self).

Children are often called upon to present their work and knowledge in written and print formats and are assessed based on that in school. The emphasis of this class is to train children to make effective & engaging hand written, and electronic presentations on various transdisciplinary topics related to their academic and overall curriculum. Further we learn how to make engaging oral presentations using their written content.

In each class we learn and practice ways to compliment and balance, written and oral communication and presentation skills.  We build powerpoint, word, hand drawing, illustrations & creative writing fluency in this interactive course while learning to speak calmly without fear & nervousness.

Making Engaging Presentations

The content and approach of our courses is carefully & consciously designed to address the many challenges faced by youngsters in middle school, when they put themselves out there and express their thoughts and ideas, and interact with others. In our highly engaging, small group classes students learn and practice much needed essential communication skills to achieve success in school, and to have positive relationships with peers and adults. Further they learn and practice effective online communications, presentation, debate, and public speaking skills to advance their critical thinking, organization, persuasion, leadership, and influencing skills.

Speaking with Power in Classroom

Often youngsters in middle  school, find it challenging to speak up with confidence in and out of classrooms, further virtual learning, and digital mode of communications is only exacerbating their struggle. Consequently we observe that many youngsters shy away from asking questions, voicing their opinions,  instead they learn to cope up by adopting ineffective, and unauthentic communication methods. This course addresses these challenges by using a “learn in the moment”, strategy that emphasizes self awareness, mindful presence, and active listening in classroom. In each session we discuss, and emulate communication challenges in the classroom and practice ways to assert ourselves and be heard.

We learn strategies and tips to seize opportunities to speak, and practice ways to convey our ideas & opinions precisely, to respond positively, and to confront/differ constructively and more. We examine & assess how the diversity of our audience, and our own diverse background impacts our ability to steer conversations & influence class discussions and how to overcome such challenges. Youngsters find this class highly interesting, and helpful as they collectively demystify the way we communicate, in a  positive, fun, and interactive environment.

Effective Online Communication

Communicating one to one in person, synchronously is very different from asynchronous, and near real time instant communications on the myriad set of social media, and digital platforms. It is imperative to train & guide youngsters as digital communication becomes ubiquitous and inevitable. Further it is very essential to incorporate the voice of next generation as we define, and solidify these platforms and the communication etiquette. Each class engages youngsters in problem solving, and well grounded communication practices with mindful presence in fun and interactive ways.

In this course we visit communicating on various social media/social communication  platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, snapchat, slack, discord etc and the general digital discourse. We discuss and address common communication challenges, in the context of misinterpretation, misuse, privacy, bullying, abuse, security, being heard, ability to reach out & influence, and have positive & productive conversations and discussions. Youngsters engage in responsible and empowering use of these platforms as they realize their incredible power and influence. 

Creating Engaging Content & Presentation

Creating engaging content and presenting it effectively is perhaps the most sought after skillset in this age of multimedia content proliferation. In this course youngsters learn, and practice the common aspects of creating engaging content – planning & ideating, organizing, building platform comfort, incorporating audience preference, reviewing and editing, and so on. 

As youngsters are increasingly consuming digital content, and engaging online,  it is becoming essential for them to create digital content, and presentations as part of their school work and other interactions. In this class, students learn and create engaging handwritten (and hand-drawn) and digital content in text (powerpoint and word documents), video and audio formats for various platforms such as youtube, webinars, podcasts, school/class presentations, public presentations etc. Each session is packed with creative exploration, interactive discussions, multi media content creation, editing exercises, and productive reviews and constructive feedback in a highly supportive, collaborative, & fun space.

Lets Debate - Middle School

This introductory debate course is all about engaging youngsters in meaningful debates while they learn the basic principles and methods, and build their reasoning acumen, and communication skills with practice. The purpose of the course is two fold –

  • To motivate and simulate youngsters to know, think, and develop perspectives about various issues relevant to them
  • To learn effective debating skills – thinking critically, reasoning, making effective arguments, active listening and responding effectively.

Students debate on various topics of high relevance to them in individual and group formats during the course. They research, discuss, organize ideas, present their claim, respond to their opponent’s claim, reflect on strategies for effective debate in each class. Youngsters form relationships, develop bigger and better perspective while honing their communication and reasoning skills with practice during this course, most importantly they enjoy the back and forth exchange in debate and their emerging abilities to assert themselves

Public Speaking for Tweens & Teens

The emphasis of this class is on all things related to delivering a compelling speech to a live audience on a face to face and virtual platforms.  In this lively course each student works on his own nerves, inhibitions, body language, voice,  and other factors as they  speak on the classroom stage, with peers as their audience. Tweens and teens learn to deliver their compelling speeches through practice in this cutting edge course.

Students learn the process, and tips for preparing, writing, and delivering a good speech in each class and put that learning to practice by preparing and delivering speeches on  a variety of topics of relevance, in class. Further they learn to prepare and respond to audience questions effectively.

Learners watch and analyze popular speeches of great orators, and influential speakers in class and engage in related exercises and activities. They draw inspiration from role models, and each other, bring self awareness and mindful attention to the speaking practice, and work towards delivering a powerful, engaging, and persuasive speech that reflects their authentic voice.

In this course we zoom in on the influences, situations, platforms, forms, and trends of high school and college  students’ communications, and empower students with strategies, and practical methods for expressing themselves effectively, and to assert their voice, and influence. Most importantly our practices  emphasize process, planning, discipline, and awareness, to the act of verbal and non verbal communication, thus enabling youngsters to be effective, and authentic in their expression.

Students pay greater attention to their own communication style, authenticity of their voice,  their inhibitions and misconceptions, body language, presentation methods, and practice ways to better their ability to be heard, and influence on various platforms.
