Course Details

Get students to think about the creativity and thinking that goes into developing games – both digital and board games, through playing and interesting game related exercises.

Get children involved on the other side of playing games – modifying and creating new games, coming up with game themes, designing game boards, developing rules, strategies and manuals.

Develop creative thinking acumen with practice, and engage in innovative problem solving.

Lay foundations for design thinking, empathy, & meta cognition. As children discuss, and design games they develop greater understanding of user preferences, strategies, and choices from their own and other person’s point of view.

Foster positive interactions, brainstorming, and collaboration among students

In this innovative class, students embark on an engaging, creative experience, interacting with games in novel ways. We bring commonly played (age appropriate) board games and digital games to class & discuss and analyse their design, strategies, rules, etc while playing.

Following the interactive analysis, students engage in individual, and group based creative thinking exercises related to game design, and strategies. Children encounter many “aha” moments and interesting revelations about games & their game-playing strategies, while they work and discuss the exercises and activities in class.

Each student works on a design project of his choice – involving either modifying an existing (board or digital) game or creating a prototype design of a new game using illustrations and or power point presentations, during the session. Teacher guides students in their project implementations by discussing demos and examples, and by engaging students in related activities, exercises, and discussions in class.

Students present their project work in class, towards the end of the session. The project presentation sessions are highly interactive, where students are encouraged to ask questions and give generous positive feedback to their peers as modeled by the instructor. As students perceive the diversity of thinking, and perceptions among themselves, they are taught to respect everyone’s ideas and appreciate each others work.

The class provides many opportunities for students to wing their creativity and express themselves in novel ways. Each child’s creativity, blossoms in this fun-filled engaging class, while bringing them to class with enthusiasm

The activities and exercises during the first class are largely geared towards understanding children’s ability to understand and analyze all things that go into creating a game – theme, design, strategy, rules, different versions etc. Further, we engage in many fun and interactive activities, to build rapport among students, and between each student & instructor. It is very essential for all students to attend the first class of each session.

Yes, parents will be provided with a post lesson summary of the concepts taught, and exercises practiced in each session, through email, WhatsApp & course reference page. Further parents will be notified in advance, when students need any other learning materials/supplies for class activities.
