The Mindful Learning Space

Logical Thinking & Deductive Reasoning

Children learn, understand, infer, and apply logic to solve problems, and puzzles and reason out correctness of their answers in this interactive class. They learn strategies, methods, tips, and tricks to solve different types of logic puzzles and problems based on math, patterns, science, geography, history, languages, and generic concepts.

They use clues, elimination, and deductive reasoning & engage in real world problem solving while interacting & collaborating with peers.
Further we invite students to come up with their own logic problems and or puzzles in any area of their expertise to challenge and inspire each other. We expose students to many kinds of logic problems, based on a variety of concepts, in each class, developing their multidimensional thinking acumen.

Course Details

Learn & practice many logic problem solving  methods, strategies, tips & tricks through interactive exercises, thinking games, & activities

Develop fluency in recognizing patterns, deducing & inferring logic, and comprehend the fact that one method (elimination for instance) can be applied to solve different types of logic problems (math, english or science related)

Cultivate growth mindset in young children, by encouraging them to take on newer and harder problems, and to continuously explore, engage, persist and practice

Foster positive interactions, brainstorming, and collaboration among peers

Engage children’s multiple intelligences and develop multifaceted thinking acumen by exposing students to a variety of puzzles, problems and just for fun thinking exercises, stretching and flexing their thinking muscles

Student learn and apply a variety of logic solving methods like elimination, identifying must be true conditions (truth tables), deductive reasoning, recognising and using patterns and sequences, abstraction, and so on methods in each class. The problem domains are related to the concepts they learn in school. We rotate between math, science, English, history, geography, and general concepts, & work on a different kind of reasoning and logic puzzles each week, offering students a holistic exposure to the problem space.

Children solve puzzles & problems interactively using group based, and individual exercises. The class provides many opportunities for students to discuss, and debate problems and solutions. We compliment the structured learning exercises and activities with free flow logic games, impromptu quizzes, & discussions where children automatically apply & infer logic through the act of playing & engaging in activities.

Our amateur sleuths solve incrementally harder problems, & mysteries following clues, and applying deductive reasoning, during the session. We engage each child in activities that are appropriate to their age group, and skill level through differentiated learning exercises.

Children draw inspiration from each other, as they engage in collaborative problem solving, and validate each others’ ideas and solutions in our positive, fun and interactive classrooms. Most importantly, students develop a habit of trying seemingly hard problems, and persisting until they solve, as their ability to problem solve is reinforced through practice & positive interaction.

Our teachers are highly qualified, well trained, and experienced subject matter experts, with exceptional ability to interact with, and engage young students online

55 minutes per class once or twice a week, and an estimated 30 minutes to 1 hour per week outside of class for home work

Rough notebook or paper, pencils, colors etc. Parents will be notified ahead of class when additional items are needed for class activity

Reference material, and external resource information will be provided

Formative assessment based on student’s performance and participation in class activities and quizzes, will be provided towards the end of the session.

FAQ

This is an interactive, instructor led small group online class that will be conducted on a zoom meeting. Students are given many opportunities to share, and interact with peers, and teachers in class. Each child is given individual attention when needed to ensure that every child grasps the concepts and participates actively in class.

Logical thinking is a core thinking skill, that is a must have  for children to be able to understand and solve problems across all subject from languages to arts, science, social and mathematics.

The class caters to students with both advanced and emerging skills, the goal is to advance each child’s abilities with practice. We assess various cognitive skills of each student and progress them accordingly with engaging, differentiated learning exercises.

The activities and exercises during the first class are largely geared towards understanding students’ thinking abilities, level of comprehension, approach, & prior knowledge. They also build rapport among students, and between each student & instructor. It is very essential for all students to attend the first class of each session.

Yes, parents will be provided with a post lesson summary of the concepts taught, and exercises practiced in each session, through email, WhatsApp & the course reference page. Further parents will be notified in advance, when students need any other learning materials/supplies for class activities.

Our research suggest that children learn, and engage better when they learn together with a diverse group of older, younger, and same age peers. Having said that, in order to best serve the learning needs of each child, we differentiate the learning activities and exercises, and adapt & evolve our teaching methods continuously based on children’s response & engagement in class.

Teacher is available  to clarify students’ doubts or questions for an extra 10 minutes, towards the end of class. Further students, or parents on behalf of students, may reach out to us on course email (which will be provided to enrolled students), for questions/clarifications

The Mindful Learning Space ardently believes in continuous learning & practice, to this extent we share relevant exercises, activities and resources for students to practice beyond class, and session.

Please refer to the overall cancellation policy on the main FAQ page. A make up class is offered in exceptional cases, when the instructor is unable to conduct a scheduled class.
